um holy fucking shit 390k in 30 days? and those stretch goals, the fuck? are you kidding me? good luck anyway...

i agree i don't see him getting that much money in that little time and those goals are bs

Madness Nexus 2 barely made it's goal, even with heavy promotion here and abroad.
No pie chart or graph indicating what the money will go towards? I don't think this is going to work, unless you've got some serious dirt on some very rich and foolish people.

Thanks for suggesting the pie chart. Just added one.

It's all good guys. The average consumer has no idea how much money it actually takes to create the stuff that they love. If ya'll want the game then pitch in and see what happens. If it succeeds, great, if not, that's okay too. But I'm not going to ask for way less than what's necessary simply because most people are completely unfamiliar with the process of creating animation and the amount of money that goes into it.

PS I did not pull this number out of a hat. Intensive planning and budgeting went into getting this number. This budget covers a crew of 11 people including programmer, animators, colorists, clean up artists and BG artist. Not to mention the IRS will take away $110,000 for taxes plus amazon and kickstarter each charge 5% fees.

We get that. This is newgrounds most people even the non animators are educated (thank god). We fully understand the costs. It's good to be optimistic but damn... I think a 30k goal is more managable.
It won't cover your production costs, but you will keep something in your pocket.

I wish you good luck.

When this game is comin' ? You know that guys makes new Halloween games at my 20th birthday ! :(

Oh shit !! Johnny Rocketfingers 3 is amazing !!

Can't wait for this game !! :D

gone

At a time where the money Kickstarters are raising is lower than ever, with thousands of people burnt after having fully funded projects collapse and the people who funded them receiving nothing, with Newgrounds getting a fraction of the traffic that it was when Johnny Rocket Fingers 2 was released... you pick now to try to get something happening. I think your about 8 years too late, and since you don't mention any of the tools or software being used for development, for all we know your asking for almost 400k for a flash game. Not to mention your deleting the comments of anyone who is questioning this kickstarter, wether they be negative or not, makes it all seem even more suspicious.

If you raise the money, good on ya, I don't think you particular deserve that kind of money from your kickstarter itself, but then what do I know, im just a consumer. Just remember that if you do succeed and fail to deliver the goods, thanks to Kickstarters change of service every single person who put in as much as $1 is entitled to legal action. Itd be a shame if all of this ended up biting you in the ass after all this effort.

I only delete messages from trolls. The game will be coded in Unity3D if funded and will not be a flash game.

Thats good to know, you might want to list the software on the kickstarter as well just to make people feel a little more secure.

Good thinking. I just added that bit of info to the kickstarter.

There was a time when banks would loan money for endeavors such as this... FM old ass L
It just seems highly improbable :( I'll still pitch in, but not having any need of production credit/advertising, it won't be a lot. Have you talked with Tom Fulp lately? His 2 cents are certainly worth more than mine...

Well it is indeed a good project and expensive as well. I was expecting a goal of 50,000 usd max, but that´s a lot and i understand the reason of the price but you should reconsider to make a short gameplay with the same flash animation like the previous game, i dont want to be pessimistic but i´m realist your goal its too high. I was expecting this for long time actually everyone was waiting for this, you should talk with Param Sharma(ItsLavish) lol in order to fund this project just kidding. But i wish you the best of lucks and if this project goes on i will pay 30 or 50 bucks in order to play it.

my computer cant run unity 3d so im out but best of luck to you man

Your computer doesn't need to run Unity to play the game.

A sort of short documentary that would inspire people other than johnny fans to donate. Make people feel like they're donating to a good cause and making a dream come true. Since I feel the current video on the kickstarter is sort of dull."

You are right I will make a video of myself talking soon. Thanks -Ryan

heh, i thought this was already in development. good luck with it, loved the first two and will prob chip in for this in a couple of weeks

Much appreciated man!

I found an article that may help you guys better understand the budget:

http://www.austincc.edu/sfarr/animation-costs.html

Damn mate, that's alot of money you asking. Compare to this, how much money did you need for JR2? Seriously, any similar sequel would be wahahay good enough. We don't need Johnny covered in sprinkles, just the old suppish dude, kicking gang ass.

I get that games take money, but this is by far the highest budget I've seen for a game like this. For people to pony up that much cash your kickstarter video needs to be amazing, but it only features some screenshots and no actual gameplay. You show a ton of gameplay from JRF1 and 2, but those look pretty bad by comparison. You need to grab people's attention. Show them video of JRF1 and they're going to exit the page immediately.

No offense, but the quality of artwork does not justify this kind of budget. I know JRF is more about the animation than the art itself. That's fine. But I've seen games with lavish art and animation request half of what you are. You spend so much time showing what the backer rewards are, but have you even started a demo in Unity? You quote animation expense in terms of high budget productions like the Simpsons, but the quality is nowhere close to that. 390k is insane.

The quality would be way higher than the Simpsons, buddy. Simpsons are talking heads. It is an animated sitcom. They stick to 10 camera angles, tops. The designs in Simpsons are simplistic and cartoony. The designs in Johnny Rocketfingers 3 are realistic and anatomically correct. Look at the buff prisoners from Johnny3 with all of their muscles, tattoos and complicated construction. Then look at Homer. I hope you see the obvious difference.

Try not worrying about the 390k, and just worry about pledging for a new Johnny game, if you even want one.

Johnny dies with the kickstarter if it does not succeed. There will be no new Johnny projects and I will pursue other projects that are way less difficult than creating an entire 8 hour adventure game with Disney-quality frame by frame animation, insane action sequences and insane detail in all the drawings.

Peace!!

Got a hold of a decent video camera so I can film myself explaining the process and some other questions people have been asking. Stay tuned.

well after read some of these post i am going to come right out and announce the death of johnny Rocketfinger why did it have to be 30 days why couldn't you wait longer and why would people spend that much money on a game that is going to be only 8 hours long

Johnny only dies if nobody pledges. My new kickstarter video update (coming soon) should help people feel more confident about pledging.
